1 - Filing of Application
After receipt of the details and confirmation to proceed to filing, we prepare the application to be submitted within one day. The application number is available right after the application is filed.
2 - Acceptance of designation of goods and services
Within approximately 2 months after the application is filed, the designated list of goods and services will be examined. This will lead to either acceptance or an office action.
3 - Acceptance of the trademark for registration
Within approximately 3 months after the application is filed, the trademark itself will be examined. This will lead to either acceptance or provisional refusal of the trademark.
4 - Publication for opposition
After translation of the designated goods and services in all CTM languages, the application is ready for publication. Within 3 months after publication third parties have the possibility to file an opposition against the application.
5 - Registration
As soon as the 3 month publication period has passed and no opposition has been filed, the trademark application is ready for registration.
6 - Publication of registration
Registration of the application is also published.
7 - Issuance of Certificate of Registration
As soon as the 3 month opposition period has passed without any oppositions filed by third parties, the European Trademark Office will proceed to registration. Until late 2009 paper registration certificates were issued, however since early 2010 digital registration certificates are being issued by the office in .PDF format. These are forwarded by e-mail.
